Darktable 2.6, export looks darker

Hi,

Does anyone have the same problem when exporting from Darktable?
I’m noticing that the JPG I export looks darker compared to what I see in DT.

Edit: I’m doing more test and I can confirm this issue is consistent. I can’t remember the same issue with the previous version, not sure if it’s because I have never noticed it or it just didn’t happen.

Something really odd is going on. When I switch between Darkroom and Lighttable back and forth, the overall tone of the image shifts. Sometimes it appears exactly as it looks in the exported jpg, other times it looks brighter. I guess what’s happening is that for some reason at some point there’s a gamma shift which causes the image to look brighter when I’m working in Darktable. It’s clearly affecting only the display because the actual image exported is darker.
Too bad, I was starting having a lot of fun with this new release. Hope I’m not alone with this bug as otherwise, I think it will be very difficult to track it down.

Edit 2: At first glance, it seems the issue happens when I use the Filmic module instead of the Base Curve. With the Base Curve the jpg looks consistent with the edit in DT.

Evening, @andrayverysame,

I noticed yesterday that my exports looked a lot lighter in, say, The Gimp than in dt. However, the reason was that my export settings in dt contained a style, which I had overlooked.

So, how are your export settings?

I’m exporting without styles.
I’m noticing something odd with the latest DT, and it’s been the same with the RC: these type of issues are hard to track down as they are not consistent. I keep testing and sometimes it happens sometimes it doesn’t.

An odd idea: have you cleared everything from the last version before fetching the new? Don’t forget back-up first, though.

Check that your color profiles are set correctly!

Yes, I did it.
Also, the good thing with DT is that it reads the edit settings from the sidecar, therefore I’m usually not too worried about loosing settings. Thanks for the heads up!

In Dartktable the output profile is sRGB (web-safe), the input is standard color matrix / gamut clipping off and I’m considering to turn it on.

The settings in the Lighttable when I export are as follows:
JPEG (8-bit)
profile sRGB (web-safe)
intent image settings
style none

I’m noticing more odd behaviors.
When I create a duplicate from the duplicate manager, I see a gamma shift.
If I create a new tone curve, before doing any adjustment, the gamma shift is gone.
At this point, I think I’ll open a ticket on the github page.
Too bad I’m getting all these glitches as I’m really liking the new release.
