Darktable 4.0 extremely slow to start and crashes often

I upgraded from 3.8 which was working fine, to 4.0. Now the software crashes frequently in the middle of applying certain features. Also the software takes forever to start. I removed databases, etc…, still the same thing happened.

I need help urgently as I reply on this software for many project.

What OS? How did you install darktable? What hardware?

Have you tried the current 4.2 version? Might not help, but you never know.
