I have installed Darktable, version 5.0.0 under Windows 10 two weeks ago and could work without any problem. Since yesterday, I suddenly noticed that the left mouse click does not function in the opened preset menus of all modules. Here an example using sigmoid module. By a left mouse click the preset menu opens. Then, when I left click on “smooth” nothing happens. Only, a right click on “smooth” works, but in this case a new instance will be created with “smooth”. I have to delete the original first instance each time thereafter.
Maybe I modified any option in the DT preferences accidentally. Any help is highly appreciated.
I was having a similar issue…if for now at least you click and hold the mouse button and drag down to the selection you want and when you let go it will be the selected item…mine was an issue with popouts with lots of presets but this might be similar…
I am on DT 5.1 and do not have this problem. I have never run DT5.0 but I tested the DT 4.9 versions prior to the 5.0 release and never saw this problem. Hopefully someone can help with your problem. I suspect it is mainly you machine doing this weird undesirable behaviour.
DT 5.0 worked for a while correctly. At once this malfunction happened. That applies to presets off all modules. I hope someone else had the same problem and knows the solution.
After the installation of v 5.0.0 I did not have any problem. After two weeks it started. I will observe now version 5.1.0. At moment, it seems the problem is gone.
There is also a weekly build for windows insider program provided on this forum which I use every week. The risk is that 5.1 can have bugs as it is a developers version, but I exclusively use it for my DT edits and rarely have any issues. When I do I report it and it is fixed by the next week.
Finally I found on GitHub the nightly releases for Windows:
Last release has the designation v5.1.0+47. Yesterday I downloaded v5.1.0+46. The file sizes are very similar. So, I conclude the website free-codecs.com should be safe one. Further, I ran Avira Prime and checked for virus and malware.
Both releases v5.1.0+46 and +47 do not show that problem.
I trust the GitHub files. They are created using the source code in an automatic script using GitHub environments. The next best thing is to self compile.
I would not trust any other website.
The 5.1 + ## means that it is version 5.1 plus the number of changes (commits) since then. Some days we could have 10 commits and other none. It helps keep track of when a bug was fixed or introduced.
I just encountered an issue where I could not click on any preset in any module. I had to restart my PC to solve the issue. This is a brand-new issue I’ve never had before, and it’s the first time in several weeks on 5.0.0. I am monitoring to see if I can reproduce it.
Yes, Windows 10.
A screenshot of my windows update history is below.
As you can see, my system hasn’t updated since December 12. The problem occurred on Friday, Jan 10. Let me know if you want me to check anything else.
