Can you please elaborate a bit?
I use the open source Nvidia driver and I see this in the Darktable processing settings screen. Do you see something different under OpenCL GPU accelleration?
It looks like you are then using the proprietary driver, which is wrapped in the nvidia-driver-570-server-open
package you mentioned. The open source package would be called “noveau”-something-or-other (I use a different distribution so not sure about the exact name).
I am still puzzled a bit (sorry). I used to use the proprietary (it is a different built)
nvidia-driver-570-server
Then I decided to give it a try about a month ago
nvidia-driver-570-server-open
I noticed the built version changed quite a bit. The proprietary was build 90 or something like this and the open is 133 now.
Checked with chatgpt (I know some people would laugh)
I have no other way to verify what is what.
the kernel module is open source, but it still loads a proprietary blob of a driver. If you have CUDA, which you do, you’re using the proprietary driver.
Thank you!
The new multi-preset export feature is something I didn’t know I needed.
can’t wait to try out some 14-bit HDR on my OM-3!
All I can say is a real big thank you to the dev team
A big thanks to the developers for this awesome new version. The multi-presets export module is a huge step forward.
Thanks for the new version - successfully installed.
I am afraid there is a regression in the export module.
GPS coordinates added via a gpx file import in DT do no longer survive an export into the jpg files.
I used the proprietary Nvidia driver in wayland. There is a considerable acceleration during processing and exporting.
I stopped using it since I repeatedly ran into VRAM error (there seems to be a driver error not cleaning up memory). Upon encountering the error it is no longer possible to use the wayland session and the computer has to be restarted. My card only has 2 GB (Quadro P600).
I am now on nouveau, which is good for the general desktop experience (less artifacts) but has the downside of slower processing in DT.
I looked in OpenCL and RustiCL but I did not get this working.
Has anybody more luck with the nvidia driver on a small GPU? Which driver version?
5.2.0 packages are now available in OBS:
https://software.opensuse.org/download.html?project=graphics:darktable&package=darktable
Very helpful.
Thanks to the packagers!
Could solve it. There are setting in the export module which metadata to export. All entries were unchecked after upgrading to 5.2.
I have similar experience. But did not use wayland (can’t make it work on pop os). I did notice the speed difference but at the end both drivers (packages) worked for me.
Once again, thank you to all the developers!
Would be nice to also get a .deb build for Ubuntu 22.04 …
Use the appimage or flatpak.
Hello,
Congratulations to the development team.
This has probably already been mentioned, but I find this version very responsive. I get the impression that a lot of work has been done on the OpenCL engine.
Well done again!
