To build from source, do not use the autogenerated tarball provided by GitHub on the release page, download our tar.xz file instead. If you’re just building for yourself without creating a package for some distribution, then using source code cloning in git is an even more convenient way.
When updating from the stable 5.4 series, please bear in mind that your edits will be preserved during this process, but the new library and configuration will no longer be usable with 5.4.
Many thanks for all those devs never getting tired of implementing new features.
This time I’m curious how those new machine learning algorithms turn out to make things easier for me.
Thanks a lot for the great work! The list of new features and enhancements is long! The AI masks are really helpful; I’ve already been able to use them.
Disappointing, it has been 7 hours since the release, and it still isn’t in the OpenSUSE repositories. Anyone would think it is the weekend or Father’s Day or something
Seriously guys, thanks once again, I am really looking forward to trying this.
Thanks everyone for all the hard work to get to this version. I really appreciate all the time and efforts that has gone into producing such a Fien piece of software
I came to darktable a little over 2 years ago. The capabilities that have been added since then are absolutely amazing. My sincere thanks to all those involved.
Has anyone on Windows (or other OS) noticed some really rough GUI behavior? Here’s what I found so far:
hovering over an image in lighttable makes DT steal window focus.
scrolling the sliders is really clumsy, it’s often not registered. It seems to be related to the switching of the direction of scrolling – after changing scrolling from up to down, the scroll is not registered. Alternating up/down produces no action.
DT always launched one or two CMD windows during startup, but now it continues even after loading the main window (3 to 5 more CMDs).
Can I downgrade to 5.4.1 safely for the time being? I haven’t edited or added anything yet, so could I perhaps roll back the database?
Does anyone else experience this? Would be worth to file a report if more people have it as well.
Here it’s stealing the focus on, apparently, every update: after creating a thumbnail, after opening an image (which still doesn’t open it in darkroom if darkroom was already opened), after exporting an image, and indeed while hovering over an image in lighttable. Really unfortunate, but this is unworkable, so I’ll have to downgrade
I installed the 5.6.0 AppImage provided on the website, went into the “AI” tab of the preferences to download all AI models, but still can’t find any of the AI denoising modules… Where is my mistake?
