And that’s the big advantage of a (good) open source project compared to most commercial software: devs are more responsive, “easy” bugs can be fixed quickly and you can get the fixed version immediately (with a bit of work and knowledge on your part, still).
There’s no need to uninstall darktable. You can either install the nightly in its place (back up your config and database, otherwise you won’t be able to go back in case something breaks), or install the nightly to a separate directory, and adjust settings to use a separate configuration directory (see --configdir at darktable user manual - darktable). I always use the latest build as my daily driver, and hardly ever run into problems, but YMMV.
