A few weeks ago I mentioned that the dtdocs PR backlog was quite large. I would like to thank @elstoc and @paperdigits for their massive effort this year to clear the backlog, and additionally for making doc changes to ease future maintenance. 
It has been great to see so many people contributing doc PRs for review, and although 2026 may not be the year of the Linux desktop, I predict it is going to be the year of up-to-date darktable documentation. 
Desktops are overrated, long live the docs!
Yes! A big thank you to the new contributors. A bigger thank you to @elstoc for the continued efforts. We’ll need to get the translation app going again so we can start providing translations again.
I just merged a pretty end to end tutorial for contributing to the docs, mostly based on a post here by @hatsnp so thanks for that as well and hopefully it helps people get up to speed if they need it.
In the course of doing translations I have realised that existing german translations are not showing up in darktable user manual - darktable. This is the case for at least a few weeks. I have understood that translations are packed into pull request for their way back but how is this happening in detail?
Please shed some light on me.
@Ulrich_from_Germany Translations should be working as described in the manual. Weblate generates PRs which need to be approved - it typically takes only a few hours for approval. For instance, this PR, #1225, was approved after a couple of hours.
The web site gets updated every 15 minutes, so it can take around 15 minutes for new translations to appear. A quick looks suggests the German translations in the PR have indeed appeared.
How are you doing the transations? I don’t use Weblate myself, but @mino should be able to help if you still don’t see your changes crearing PRs.
As long as you are clicking “save” in weblate everything should be going well. I suspect you are experiencing the delay of: weblate pushing translations as a PR every about 24h, which then has to be merged. After that the docs rebuild every 15 mins. Sometimes this deployment gets stuck and starts failing silently, which is annoying. But the deployment should be up to date currently.
Pages also need a certain threshold of translated-ness before they are spawned in the translated docs, so that might also be an issue you are experiencing.
Do you have a specific string you translated that is missing from the docs?
I will check for a string that I missing which has been translated in an existing page. Later the weekend.
I do miss Spektrafilm in total but that ist not complete and therefore might be the threshold limit.
Alright. BTW you are regularily popping up in weblate’s PRs, so I am fairly certain things are working correctly. Thanks for helping with the translations

I also noticed the same when translating to German recently. I have the impression that translated strings still do not show up when the flag “needs editing” is set. This comes from changes to the original string in English.
I try to give something back as the dt is wonderfull (even with me just using a mere 1/4 of the editing possibilities.
