Darktable Doesn’t have my Lens on Lensfun, but is in Lensfun Database?

EDIT: Solved (Lens wasn’t missing, I was confused about how the module operated)

Hello everyone,

I’m having an issue with both the AUR and Flatpak version of Darktable in which my Samyang 12mm Lens is not found (note the lack of Samyang). The entire Samyang section is missing

The strange thing is that the Samyang lenses are supported in the Lensfun database according to their website, and have been for a while, so what is happening?

Even the flathub version of Darktable which is what is being run in the screenshots is effected, which I wouldn’t think possible.

How can I get lens correction for my Samyang lens?

When I was using the AUR version, i ran sudo lensfun-update-data and then restarted, but this did not give me access to the Samyang section of the lens database

What camera are you using with the Samyang? There have been recent cases where the lensfun entry for a lens is there, but the mount to the connected camera isn’t specified. At any rate, important to narrowing down your specific problem. And, welcome to the forum!

Welcome! You first need to select the camera body, than the lens (given that it exists in the database for the specific mount as already mentioned). As Samyang doesn’t make cameras, I wouldn’t expect to see it in this dropdown menu anyway, but it might show up in the lens dropdown after the camera is selected.

I have Archlinux with standard darktable and find Samyang lenses for E-mount cameras.

Technically I have a Canon EF Rokinon 12mm F2.8, but am looking to apply the samyang profile to it on recommendation of a friend.

Ok, I got it, I was just confused about how this worked, the first field is the model of the camera, the second is the model of the lens.

I thought it was lenses first and didn’t realise that it was the model of camera.
