darktable.info - English version is live! / Call for Maintainers

Hi everyone,

We have some news to share!

The English translation of darktable.info is now complete. :tada:

You can access it here: darktable.info – Mastering Darktable 5.4: Workflow, AgX & Shortcuts

We have two requests for the community:

  1. Feedback / Review: Since we (@martijn , @Jetze, @Pieter_Zanen & me ) are not native English speakers, we would really appreciate it if you could take a look at the English pages. Does the terminology match the official English Darktable interface? Are there any phrasing issues?
  2. Call for an English Maintainer: While we can handle the technical side and the German (and NL) content, keeping the English content up-to-date with future Darktable versions (and upcoming changes) might be a bit much for us.
3.Is there anyone here who would be interested in acting as a “Maintainer” for the English section?*
This would mainly involve keeping an eye on the English texts and updating them when workflows change or new features are introduced.

Thank you all for your continued support and feedback!

Best regards,
darktable.info -Team

It might be nice to describe what the translation workflow is and what the expectations of an English maintainer are.

Thank you for all the hard work. It is a great resource.
The only issue I have noticed is that if I click e.g. AgX, it take me to German version of AgX. I think a careful review of the links maybe necessary.

The QUICK START link at the bottom of the page is now broken. If this change was intended, would be less confusing if you could remove the link.

Thanks for the question.

The role is quite flexible. Basically, it involves checking the English translations we provide for any changes.

An extended role would also include independently implementing the changes.

@siamak , @rmishra

Thank you for your feedback, the errors has been fixed.

the issue still persist.
If you choose AgX from Home page, it goes to getting started, then on that page if choose Step 3 AgX, Step 4 Tone Equalizer, The Designer: Crop, or The Architect: Lens Correction still goes to the German pages.
The issue exist only if you go from Home>getting started> to those said pages. It seems from Darktable tab they correctly go to those pages in English
I will report if I find any other issues.

I can’t find the error, unfortunately. Perhaps try clearing your browser cache with Shift+F5?

If the error persists, please hover your mouse over the incorrect link and take a screenshot.

thx!

I am on Safari, did clear the cache on safari. osx 26.2

Thank you so much! I found it and changed it!

Using Firefox on an ubuntu derivate (tuxedo os)
Cleared cache with ctr-shift-del => everything (sigh).
Called darktable.info – Mastering Darktable 5.4: Workflow, AgX & Shortcuts.
Clicked on 3-Agx = Standard Workflow - Mastering DT 5.4: Workflow, Shortcuts, Themes & AgX
Clicked on Step 4. tone equalizer = Tone Equalizer - Mastering DT 5.4: Workflow, Shortcuts, Themes & AgX

and works!

You must have changed something, a minute ago I still landed on a german page.
[Edit: you did, saw your post too late  )

On the page darktable.info – Mastering Darktable 5.4: Workflow, AgX & Shortcuts the button “Cookies settings” at bottom-right creates a pop-up window in German: “Wer wir sind” etc.

Given the URL, I wonder if this might get mistaken for the official darktable website (darktable.org). It might be worth an alert at the top of the page to redirect them just in case.

Thank you for the heads-up, it should be correct now.

Currently, the notice is located further down on the homepage; we also previously included “unofficial” in the title.

Thanks for the feedback; we’ll discuss this internally.

We’ve updated the logo to avoid any misunderstanding. Thanks for pointing that out.

This is so great! There are a million ways to do it in darktable, so as a new user I’m very interested in which workflows are optimal, not just the various possible ways to accomplish goals. That means older tutorials usually aren’t relevant for workflows.

You’d have to define what parameters you’d want to optimize before someone could suggest a workflow.
