darktable lighttable choosing images

Hi,
I used darktable quite excessively in the last few weeks and I’m astounded. It has become such a great piece of software and I wanna thank all of you being involved making this happen. Also the youtubers spending their time explaining all the stuff to me : ). Overall I think I became better in understanding colors and processing images since I switched to dt. So thanks.

I also started selecting and rating my images with dt but I missed some features which I find would be helpful. Maybe I just couldn’t find them or you know a nice workaround or have a different approach. Then I would like to hear your suggestions.

In darkroom mode there is a very helpful feature which shows you the parts of the raw-image which don’t have any information, like blown highlights. When I switch through the raw-images the first time in lighttable-mode I sometimes can’t determine how big the damage is or if I can repair it afterwards becausw it only shows me the jpeg preview. So I have to switch do darkroom-mode and check the image there with the blown highlight-feature. Is there a way to show the blown highlights of the raw-image in lighttable-mode?

The other helpful feature in darkroom-mode which I miss sometimes in lighttable-mode is the lightbulb. I think it’s called softproof?! I found it sometimes helpful to check the appearance of the whole image and see how the composition is. Even better then in fullscreen mode (“f”).

And there is my last question. Is there a possibility to zoom in at 100% in fullscreen-view by clicking on the spot I want to check? I know you can zoom by ctrl+mousewheel, which works as well. But this would be great to quickly check sharpness. Anyway not a big deal.

Would love to hear how you select your images before editing or if you know some workarounds of the above mentioned points.

kind regards

This is the color assessment mode. It is available only in darkroom at the moment.
