I guess the change (even if done correctly) needs some time to propagate through all the servers around the world…

Yep. And the propagation speed is limited by a refresh time, so if they forgot to set that to a low(ish) value well before the change, propagation can be slow. In any case, different users will see the site appear at different times!
UPDATE: according to isitdownrightnow the website is up, So those who still can’t reach it wiil have to be patient a while longer…
