darktable slideshow colour management

I’ve just noticed that when using the darktable Slideshow view to display JPG files, the colour appears different than expected - that is, the colour of the displayed image is different (slightly darker / more saturated) compared to the same JPG viewed in darktable’s darkroom, or when displayed directly using IrfanView.

Both darktable and IrfanView are configured to use the same monitor (Aus ProArt PA279) with the same .icm file for colour management.

The behaviour is the same whether or not I select the ‘prefer performance over quality’ checkbox on the darktable general settings tab.

I’m using darktable 3.8 on Windows 10.

Any ideas on how to resolve this, if it is indeed a problem?

Try checking your darktablerc for cache_color_managed. The default value is true. Its description says:

if enabled, cached thumbnails will be color managed so that lighttable and filmstrip can show correct colors. otherwise the results may look wrong once the display profile gets changed.

Hi, I just checked, and cache_color_managed variable is set to True.
