Darktable user.css theme addon showcase

Coming from other commercial software I found darktable’s UI could be slightly amended to appeal to my taste. Since it is open source, here we go:

See darktable-theme · GitHub for a copy/paste version of my user.css.

Installation: Preferences/General, then select darktable-elegant-darker and paste the CSS into the tweaks box. (make sure to have a backup of your previous CSS tweaks, just in case)

Comments/suggestions for further improvements are very welcome.

Welcome to the forum and thanks for sharing… I will check it out later when I get a chance to see what changes you have made…

I like the style changes, but I got a lot of crashes using this UI. I hope it can be tested and improved.

Welcome to the forum.

Some time ago I made a personal theme too trying to get a dark theme. You can check it here. My personal darktable theme. - #44 by difrkaguilar

Since the first version I made other tweaks to improve visibility and the use of other font family among other things.

Not unless you report such crashes on Github.

Thanks for sharing.
I particularly like the spacing between the modules and the rounded corners. Gonna have a look into it

Darktable should never crash regardless of any CSS changes. Please report the crash as GitHub issue and include as much information about your specific setup as possible - OS, dt version, gtk version, other libraries and their versions, debug logs from the crash, possibly with core dumps.
If you determine the cause of the crash, please feel free to send an update.

Thanks, BeF for the post. It is definitely helping my tired old eyes. One suggestion - Do you think you could change the font colour for the radio buttons? They are currently white on a grey background. That is a bit of a strain. Here is an example of it.

This is on Windows 11 OS

Thank you for the suggestion.
Have you tried setting the theme to darktable-elegant-darker as I did? My version - see above - looks slightly different with light gray font on dark buttons.

Yes, that was it. Thanks. I missed this point in your earlier post
