darktable Windows not installing!

hi lovely people. dt told me there was a pid (whatver that is) on the loose. Have had this before, un-installed and downloaded again, no probs. Now I get what’s below. What to do, please?

i’m going to guess that you are running darktable and trying to install it at the same time, and the running instance is preventing the installer from overwriting it. Quit darktable (or reboot - this is windows, after all) and try again. (Maybe you can include the pid message next time? There’s nothing quite like an error message to help figure out what the error is!)

Genius! I had un-installed it, but checked task manager and that showed a bit of it still running. End Task and away we went. Thx so much.

The other possibility is that there are stale lock file(s) in the config directory. Normally these should be cleaned up next time you start darktable, but if there is some other process camping on that PID, it could prevent darktable from starting up. In that case, you need to be sure that there is no darktable process running on the system, then clean up the lock file(s) manually.
