Perhaps this has been discussed but I couldn’t find it. Has there been any thoughts or discussion to add the “delete (trash)” function in the darkroom view? After using lighttable to cull my photos I find once I am in darkroom there are some images I may have missed from deletion. Especially when shooting sports or wildlife with a high speed shutter. I’m sure we’ve all been in that situation before. I think it would be extremely helpful feature to have.
Tap R to flag the image to reject. I filter to anything but rejects, so it is removed from the filmstrip. After I’m done with processing images I go back and then trash after I’m sure I am really done. I’ve gone back to remove rejects in the past.
That will work, thank you I didn’t think of that!
I actually do all my culling in darktable view. I either process the raw or hit the r key to mark it for deletion and then move along the film strip. Then when I finish that folder of images I go back to lighttable view, filter for all rejected images, select all and then delete (trash) selected. I find this more efficient than using the cull view in lighttable. This darktable method also lets me see which bad looking exposures can actually be recovered by DT and which are a lost cause.
Thanks for the solutions. As a recent transplant from rawtherapee I never even noticed the option to cull from darkroom. I’ll be doing the same from now on.
