Deleting a "place"

I needed to edit a jpg and turn it into a pdf. Instead of moving the jpg into one of my existing places, I added the folder the jpg was in. Now I would like to remove that folder from my places, but when I right-click on it, I get a message that I can’t remove it. How can I get rid of it?

You usually have to be the administrator. If you are, ignore the message and just do it. Also depending on what OS you use you should be able to drag it anywhere you want, Windows does anyhow.

I think you’d have to reset the import module or window. There’s a reset button on it, just like om other modules.

You can right-click a place to remove it:

The reset button is to restore a default place you removed:

You cannot remove a place if it is currently selected:

Simply select another, then right-click the one you want to remove.

I was trying to do delete it without having switched to another collection. Thanks for pointing out what should have been obvious.

You’re welcome. I didn’t know this functionality, either. To be honest, since we’re only deleting an entry and not an in-use resource, it should be possible to delete the selected ‘place’. I don’t know if it’s a darktable or GTK limitation.
