I try to denoise DNG images with Topaz Denoise AI before importing them into Darktable. I save them in Denoise AI with option “Preserve image format”.
However, the exported DNG have some color problems in them and they look weird in Darktable. Please see the attached screenshot.
When I export images in TIFF in DenoiseAI, they look better in Darktable, but then DArktable does not apply automatically processing that it applies to the original DNG images.
There is some strange change of image information. Particularly, in Darktable, image information panel says:
for original DNG image: flags 2…r…ap…r
for DenoiseAI DNG image: flags 1!..ap…r
for DenosieAI TIFF image: flags 1!.l…ap…t
I use denoiseAI 5.8.
All three images can be downloaded via this link:
Thank you!
P. S. I’ve raised the same question to Topaz DenoiseAI support.
Cross-post it here in the hope that somebody knows the solution.
I’d assume that topaz is writting a busted DNG file. This happens often as DNG is a container format. Likely you are OK with the tiff, since topaz probably does not write raw data back to the saved DNG file.
Always had problems with color changes with the output of denoiseai and sharpenai.
After realizing I didn’t like the output in the end , and their payment model is just a Adobe style subscription hidden in a 'stop paying when you want '-slogan, I never used them again.
C1 , DT, Rt all had color issues compared to the original image
