Dialog box scrolling -- Disable?

GIMP 3.x (on Windows 11 if it matters)

Is there any way to disable the scrolling effect in dialogs when a new item is chosen (e.g., a category in the Preferences dialog)? It has no functional purpose AFAICT* and (IMO) it’s visually annoying. Maybe a .gtkrc setting?

* unless it’s maybe to divert attention until all the widgets have populated, etc.?

Thanks.

P.S. One other semi-related question (Preferences), which I’ll break out into another topic if it’s anything – Where do I find a log to tell me what this is about? I see it every time I open Preferences.

Hi! Regarding the second point, it’s a Windows bug we’re tracking at 'Operation not Supported' with a different Color Profile set (#14142) · Issues · GNOME / GIMP · GitLab

Thanks. Any ideas on my primary question? A GTK preference maybe?

One way to go about this is to toggle “Reduce animations” option in your desktop environment settings. For GNOME this is under “Setttings” > “Accessibility” > “Visual”.

I’m on Windows 11 and have pretty much done as much as I can in that regard.

Thanks.

@lphilpot, I’m not well versed in Windows 11, so I need to take your word for it :). If you already have all “reduce animations” options in Windows 11 set and the animation is still in place, then that sounds like a GTK bug to me.

@lphilpot If you mean the “slide-in” effect when choosing new options in Preferences (e.g. going from “System Resources” to “Color Management”), I think that might be taken care of by dialogs, widgets: Check if animations are enabled... (bb9d36d8) · Commits · GNOME / GIMP · GitLab

When we release GIMP 3.1.4, it’ll contain that fix - feel free to try it out and let us know if it solved your problem.
