This is almost certainly a user-error, but this user can’t figure where the error is being committed.
The two attached images show the appearance of my portfolio in the collections panel when the images are being viewed by folder. The ‘tree’ view in Linux is exactly what I expect and makes it very easy to move around the image portfolio. The Windows view is confusing to me - why are there so many entries of the top level directory - some of them capitalised, some not? To browse to a particular set of sub-folders - which is very straightforward in Linux - requires me to open/close each of these top level folders until I find a tree which is ‘deep’ enough to reach the sub-folders I want. This is obviously most inefficient.
How can I get a ‘tree’ view, like Linux, in Windows?
By way of background, I have started to view collections using folder view rather than filmroll view because the list of filmrolls was getting very long (hundreds) and I still haven’t imported 70% of my image portfolio. I had been toying with the idea of having multiple dt databases, but after reading extensively, especially on this forum, I am persuaded that dt can handle all my images in the one database - aside from having an inconveniently long filmroll list. A folder view is elegantly compact in my installation - well, it is in Linux!
