Open Source Photo Management software digiKam version 8.5.0 is released with the first native Apple Silicon arm64 package based on Qt and KDE version 6 frameworks. Face Management uses the new default YuNet and SFace DNN models to improve performance with the face detection and recognition workflow.

The native ARM build for macOS is highly appreciated. And I just played with the new facial recognition, and it is indeed noticeable faster and more accurate!

Thanks a lot for the great work! I had stopped using the face detection in the past as the recognition was so unreliable for me that it was practically useless. Now I tested again with the new models and almost all recognised faces are correct. Looking forward to finally using that feature :).
