I have been using Digikam off and on since the demise of support for Picasa. I am currently using 8.3 and have a database of ~60K photos. I have found using Digikam 8.3 with the internal SQLite database to be a bit slow, so have started setting up MariaDB on my Synology DS723+. I started the database migration yesterday lunchtime. After 21 hours migration progress is 40% Is this normal?

Hi Alan,
I haven’t used digikam in a while, but remember that database operations always tended to be very time consuming. IIRC, there is an option to clean up the database (db maintenance) that can easily run for hours, depending on which operations have been included.
Anyway, the important question is: Is it still making progress, or did the process somehow get stuck at 40%?
Thanks for the reply. It is still going - now at 72%. I guess it may finish tomorrow!
Hopefully there is a speed-up running Digikam when the migration completes. If not, I will likely give up on Digikam.
