Digikam Weekly 8.9.0 crashes schort after start

Hello dear developers of Digikam,

I used the 8.9.0 weekly until the version of 16.12.2025. There were no problems with this version. The last pictures were added to the database with this version. Even after that, the start and work with Digikam was not a problem.

But with the next available weekly until today there is a problem after the start of the program. On the one hand, it may happen that the program window sticks after the start to the left edge of the screen with the left edge. After another attempt, the program window will also be displayed correctly placed in the center of the screen.

In both possibilities, the program starts and shows the known surface. Normal behavior would now be the set scanning for new images and viewing the previews. But this is not the case. It runs a process (ventilator noise), the previews remain empty and then Digikam crashed after a few seconds.

Interestingly, the current version of today started once fine. After that it came back to crashes.

I added the following installations: Screenshot shortly before the crash, two logs of different program starts.

In the meantime, I had tried a debug version, but it didn’t work with the instructions. I’m not a Console junkey or a programmer either. However, I hope to contribute to a solution with my description and the attached files.

The stable version 8.8 installed in the meantime also worked without any problems with the existing database.

Allen Pixls.us users and all the involved developers of Digikam wish a beautiful Christmas!

Today I tried the current Weekly 9.0.0. It crashes as described above.
8.8.0 works without problems and is my salvation.
The version 8.9.0 will probably be released as stable soon. I will probably not be able to use them under these circumstances.

How can you find out what it is? Since 8.8.0 stable and weekly until 16.12. without problems with the database or the pictures came clear, I think something has changed in Digikam. And if it’s something else, how can I find out what it is?

Since here is not the official forum to report mistakes, how can I bring my contribution to Maik Qualmann anyway?
Or can someone possibly forward that?

You need to produce a crash log and submit it as a bug to the developers.

Merry Christmas and thanks, I know. As described above, it had tried, but I did not succeed. However, as I work on a productive system, I do not want to endanger the running capability of the system by experiments.

It is possible to understand by the description at which stage of the program run there can be something wrong. That was my hope. Nobody other probably knows Digikam as good as Maik
