digiKam4.db-journal ???

For ages, on a three times per week schedule, I have had Synchredible set to copy the data-base files to another location as a back-up (and this has saved me a lot of trouble on more than one occasion).

During all that time, there have only ever been four database files.

Now, lately, I have picked up a fifth file = digiKam4.db-journal; this file has a different thumbnail icon from the other four.

Nothing about my machine nor digiKam has been changed; and yet, out of the blue, I have gained this fifth file that I never had before.

What could I have done to cause this to start showing up ?

Thanks for reading.

that is probably digikam using sqlite?

the journal file is something sqlite uses to track changes to the DB file. that can be seen when the DB was open while your backup was running.

Look here at the database settings: WAL-Mode. 1st Sreenshot:

But the new files created when digkam works are named different. These files are closed and not existend anymore, if one quit digikam regulary.
