Disable capture sharpening?

Whenever I open a new raw image, the majority of the time spent opening it spent on capture sharpening. It must be about ~4-5x longer than the demosaicing.

Can I disable capture sharpening? Is it really important? Can I delay it to only when the images are exported?

Thanks!

You can always turn it on at the end of your editing. The order of operations won’t change. You may have to refine your other settings though.

Where do I disable it?

Read General Comments About Some Toolbox Widgets - RawPedia.

As far as I can tell, none only some of the bundled processing profiles in RT have Capture Sharpening enabled. So you must have enabled it yourself, somehow. Do you have a modified profile that you apply to your raw’s by default?

“Standard Film Curve” and “Auto-Matched Curve” have it enabled:
[PostDemosaicSharpening]
Enabled=true

Edit: only for low ISO!

@Ap0c552 you can make a copy of your favourite default profile and disable Capture Sharpening there

This is not true at all true for some profiles only. Please take a look here in the source code:

Oh sorry, you are 66% right! I only looked into the “ISO low” profiles, where it is enabled. At least in the Windows builds.

Auto-Matched Curve - ISO Low.pp3 (341 Bytes)

And you were 33% right, sorry that I didn’t check all files. :slightly_smiling_face:

In any case, for @Ap0c552, you can edit your local version of the ‘Auto-Matched Curve - ISO Low.pp3’ file and remove the section on [PostDemosaicSharpening].
