In the late 1960s when I was in Middle School I spent every penny I earned delivering newspapers on Estes model rockets. One of them I had was called the Camroc, which had a small single shot black and white camera in the nose cone.
I can’t remember whether it took pictures on the way up or on the way down, but the Fun part was we never knew what in the world we were going to get!
If this caliber of equipment was available back then I would have been all over it…
