Hello,
i wonder is Dartable support OM1 MarkII; i tried with a RAW from this cam with no success; a version to come supporting it ?
Thanks
Not yet, it’s a brand new camera…
Please upload all possible samples to https://raw.pixls.us/ and follow instructions here: Camera support · darktable-org/darktable Wiki · GitHub
I have not sample because i did not buy it yet but you can find some here
OM System OM-1 Sample Gallery: Digital Photography Review for the mark II with RAW files
We’ll need the CC0 contributed samples first I’m afraid.
Just a newbie starting to use Darktable.
Coming from Lightroom v6 (paid and not updated, unluckily).
I installed Darktable to play with my brand new OM System OM1 mkII.
But, surprise… Darktable is not compatible yet.
I took some pics tonight in my city, but i see that on https://raw.pixls.us/ there are a lot of samples. Different resolutions and options included.
May I presume that a future version will include support for my camera?
Thanks to all the developers (Darktable seems to be a huuuuuge project…)
Funny, mosaic view starting the program works, but when I click on one pic to work in darkroom, program reports that it has not the right white balance information (I guess something changed from previous OM1)
That is correct*. Welcome!
* (There is still the 14-bit high resolution mode support missing, but 12-bit works.)
Try to search the issues and pull requests on GitHub, to see if it has already been added or is planned.
To get you off on the right foot, make sure to watch this tutorial:
Sorry to contradict. OM1 mkII can use 14 bit in case of “high resolution shot” files.
Normal raw files are 12 bit (plain sensor use), like those I made one hour ago.
With those files current darktable version 4.6.1 under Windows11 does not work.
Or at least, does not work on my computer, maybe I am missing something…
I explained the error message in my previous message.
Darktable does not support the 14bit files at all.
The 12bit files from your camera should be supported in the next release.
“Darktable does not support the 14bit files at all.”
Does this mean that it will never support them, or is it just a matter of time?
It is of course just a matter of time, but there is no estimate whatsoever when that will actually happen.
12b files are supported since dt 4.8
It also depends on what kind of files those 14-bit files are. Compressed, multilayer or otherwise complex files may take longer to be supported (the more so as camera makers aren’t usually very forthcoming with the details of their file formats).
OK, thanks for you reply. I am using DT with 12bit raws without any problem.
I understand. They’d better all use an open format (DNG?) but for one reason or another they think it’s better to keep they raws proprietary.
Can you just use the DNG convertor and use DNG until full support is available…
That can be an option, if the DNG converter supports the format.
Adobe is the first to support new formats because they are closed source and sign NDAs with camera makers. So yes, it’s always an option if you’re stuck with some undisclosed new format or encoding algorithm from the camera manufacturer.
There is of course the possibility to use the free Workspace application that OM Systems supply for free (WIn and Mac), to export the HR files to tiff and then import to dt.
