Does GIMP have a "Hand" Tool ???

I hate to have to ask such a basic question.

I have been using Photoshop Elements for years and I have always switched to the “Hand” tool after every operation; doing thus, I cannot then have any image manipulating accidents.

I just don’t like to have some tool floating around, ready to do something I don’t want it to do.

That being said, some wild idea has possessed me to uninstall the years-old version of GIMP that has been hanging around unused, install the most recent version, and actually try to learn how to use it.

Among at least a thousand questions that I can immediately think of, the one at the forefront of my mind is >>> Does GIMP even have a “Hand” tool; and, if so, where is it hidden ?

Thanks for reading and all help is appreciated.

No, there is no hand tool. Some people switch to the “Measure” tool for this (since it cannot change anything to the image).

Thank you for answering and for the optional idea.

For actually panning, press Space and drag mouse cursor around. Just like in that other mudbrick application.

Thanks; that is good to know.

I use the Rectangle Select tool which is conveniently located at the top left of the toolbox.
