Since mountains are popular these days on the forum, I’m uploading this winter’s shot that honestly surprised me. I thought it’s boring, but I decided to try a dramatic look and after adding graduated density from the top I knew there is something to this photo!
DT 5.1. I was unsure what I wanted to do with this one, but I felt the clouds would have looked soft rather than dramatic, but maybe that is my bad. DSC_1610.NEF.xmp (11.7 KB)
I have tried in GIMP to bring out the various planes as they recede into the distance without losing the mistiness on the distant peaks.
Not very successfully!
Had to give it a shot, I’m a sucker for these scenes.
Most changes took place in the tone eq and diffuse and sharpen. Hastily drawn mask with a large brush for the sky/mist diffusion after a whole scene sharpening. Other than that just a standard workflow through all of the scene referred modules (adjusted to taste).
Oh, and no Local Contrast module…I’ve been trying to use that less lately and have been happy with the results I’ve been getting. DSC_1610.NEF.xmp (17.7 KB)
