I’m using DT 3.8.1 (as I’m on Windows 7 and have heard it can’t run any higher version; maybe this is false…?) and want to retain all the camera details (f-stop, shutter speed, lens type, etc.) as well as the time & date the original photo was taken on, in my exported file.
So far, my exported files don’t retain the camera details nor the original time & date (as shown by the File Properties / Details on the Windows desktop file viewer).
I used to use SilkyPix bundled software, which, although rather limited, did a fairly good job of developing images, and always retained the original photo’s time & date, along with the camera details, on the saved / exported files.
I’ve just discovered that DarkTable has an ‘Image Information’ section in the Lightroom, which lists all the camera details AND displays “Import Timestamp; Change Timestamp; Export Timestamp” amongst the list of metadata fields.
But I cannot figure out how to tell it NOT to ‘Change Timestamp’, so the ‘Export Timestamp’ is the same as the ‘Import Timestamp’…?!?
And also how tell it to retain ALL this list of ‘Image Information’ within the Exported Image’s image metadata / file properties: Details.
It clearly knows ALL the data.
How do I get it to pass on ALL the data to the saved / exported file?
So when I open the ‘File properties: Details’ of the new file, ALL the original data is shown?
I’ve heard mention of EXIF data, but I cannot work out how / where this is in 3.8.1, or how to tell DarkTable to use it to retain all the original metadata.
I’ve also just noticed ‘GeoTagging’ on the right side of Lightroom’s menus, and it appears to be displaying the original photo time & date.
So, I can see the data I want to retain displayed in 2 different areas of Lightroom, yet I cannot find any way to tell DarkTable to retain it in the exported file…!?!
Countless Google searches have come to little more than the mention of EXIF metadata, and no info on how to access / use it.
Surely it’s a standard requirement to retain the original camera data and time & date…?
Yet there appears to be no facility to do such…
I suspect I’m missing something here.
Could anyone please help me?
Thank you very much!
I’m loving using DarkTable so far.
This is just an annoyance I’d like to sort out ASAP, as the sooner my finished photos have all the original data, the better my photo album will be!
