I am using DT 4.4.2 installed from Flatpack on Linux Mint 21.2 on the hardware below. When I open a folder with lots of photos and scroll with the mouse wheel among the thumbnails in the Lighttable view… DT suddenly crashes? Is this a known problem?

DT crashes in different places depending how fast I scroll down with the mouse wheel. So I do not think it is about some broken image files?
Actually, it would be worth a try
to (temporarily) remove those.
OK I will try that and come back in a little while…
Done that test… and those thumbnails showed up as a skulls … and that was expected. DT now crashed a little bit later but thats all.
Corrupt images can make dt crash. A log of the crash could help.

Looks like that is the old crash log.
How does it look after you removed
those four files? I.e. a new crash log.
And could you use pastebin? Or a similar service to lake it easier to read?
yes that was the old logfile… I will redo the whole thing and try to use pastebin. Thank you for your help!
Now next image seems to be the culprit:

Move it out of the way, re-run, if crash → new crash log,
repeat until all is working.
I get it… but DT seems to be a bit sensitive. I can open all these files in other programs like Pix without any problems. I think DT should be able to handle an error in a photo and just report a broken image or so… crashing seems a bit brutal… ;o)

It seems that DT on Linux dont support GoPro Hero 6 Raw-files while it works on my DT on Windows 11. Every time it tries to generate a thumbnail of a GPR-file DT crashes. Do you want me to send you an example file?
Solved thanks to Claes in Lund! It was the Flatpak version that caused all these problems. I uninstalled the Flatpak version and installed from the Git building service version darktable_4.5.0~git299.7c86465b-1+10432.1_amd64(2).deb… and then all was fine. Thank you Claes!
