Hi all, just upgraded DT to v5.0 (Flatpak) and love what I see so far. However, I’m a bit confused as to where to find the styles folder.
I found ~/.var/app/org.darktable.Darktable/config/darktable/styles, and deleted my previous custom styles that were no longer required. However, They haven’t disappeared from the quick access button in Darkroom.
So it would appear they are stored elsewhere, but where?
Please remember I’m using the flatpak version, not the system version.
Iirc, styles are also stored in one of the databases. So indeed, the best thing is to delete them from inside darktable.
That ~/.var/ directory is hidden from normal operation (the ‘.’ in front of the “var”). That’s a strong hint you shouldn’t need to modify it in normal operation. And deleting a style you no longer need is a normal operation.
Basically, if you modify files used by a program from outside that program, it’s up to you to make sure the system stays consistent. If you do the same modification from within the program, the program is responsible for that consistency. So you have every reason to do as much as possible from within darktable.
Thank you both. I was originally looking in Darkroom and when I couldn’t find it there went straight to folders, like for many other reasons under Linux. Didn’t expect to find it in Lightroom, but happy now that it’s sorted.
