Duplicate images in Lighttable view

I’ve been looking back through old picture of the children, spanning some 20 years of images and have noted a number of duplicate images in the library. I started to reject duplicates to clean up the library but noted in the image information that they have the same path.
Why might this have occurred and what is the safest way for me to clean out all the duplicates.
Thanks.

I think we need some more information, AFAIK dt doesn’t import the same image twice. Are they RAWs? Jpegs? Maybe both? Did you by chance simply create duplicates in darktable?

These are older JPG’s. I’m not sure if I’ve done something in the past which has resulted in a second import of the same image. I have in the past put files into the hard drive folder and then added them to Darktable which may account for this if I’ve done it more than once.

Just not sure if its safe to ‘reject’ one of each image pair and then delete.

I’d be careful about that. Verify first that they are true duplicates.
