@Pieter_Zanen, how do you propose we do that? Using GitHub?
In my view the choice how to set up the technical approach is not yet relevant at the moment. That choice can be made after consensus is reached on the contents of this beginners corner. I feel that setting up a group is first, followed by the definition of the contents. Which modules should be deal with, to what degree (e.g. include maths) or not, etc etc. Having reached consensus on this we can decide on the technical approach (website, Github, pdf, You Tube).
The first step is finding people.
O, I was not thinking technically, but more that collecting in this thread is not very efficient… I was not thinking in terms of building anything, but more a good place to discuss. My feel is that this forum might not be the best…
There are many discussions on this forum about this subject. And most of the time they lead nowhere. So maybe this forum may indeed not be the best.
Or this is just what it is we have to deal with and we’ll have to conclude that even for a bigger English community it is not so easy, let alone for the probably rather tiny group of Dutch speakers.
There are a couple of difficulties to be addressed:
- no duplications
- find-ability
- cross references both ways to the dt manual
- comprehensiveness
- maintainability
I have not seen an easy solution yet.
Here is my suggestion:
Let’s start a new topic that is purely intended for good, informative resources. I would say with the focus on explaining how dt works (like Bruce is doing) or how to achieve a certain goal (like often the Video’s of Boris). I would argue not to include video’s like: ‘How to do x in darktable in 1 minute’ because in my opinion they are just too uninformative.
We have to restrain ourselves from by posting materials. Not start a discussion on it. (@paperdigits is it possible that the moderators help out in this ??) And before posting, check if something is already posteed. Maybe we can use the ‘like this post’ button to use vote on quality of the source.
If we do this with the power of the community we will build up a good list of materials. This can later be use to make it searchable / browser able. But starting with materials is I think phase 1.
I suggest this format: (note I have include brackets in the link to prevent embedding)
