DxO acquires Nik Collection assets from Google

Statement from DxO: https://nikcollection.dxo.com/

At the bottom of the page it says:

The current Nik Collection will remain available for free and can be downloaded below, please fill the form with your email address, we will send you the links.

So these are getting integrated with DxO’s raw processor?

The SilverEfex plugin is great, but the newer version will be free?

Something tells me “No!”.
You can still download from the Google site (https://www.google.com/nikcollection/) although I don’t know how long this will remain active.

There will likely be integration and product spinoffs.

The new version of our flagship software DxO OpticsPro, which is available as of now under its new name DxO PhotoLab, is the first embodiment of this thrilling acquisition with built-in U Point technology.

DxO PhotoLab is now the only software to offer U Point technology in a non-destructive RAW workflow.

Given how hurriedly DxO upped the crappy site (which has improved since), it feels like an it’s all mine! kind of ownership, which I suspect means that the free version won’t be around for long.

can you install the collection into gimp? or gmic?

You can use the Collection in GIMP, but you’ll need to write/find a script to do so. Have a look at Partha’s Place (http://www.partha.com) - he has several build’s of the GIMP (MacOS and Windows).

thanks!

With the release of Nik Collection 2018, looks like it isn’t free anymore. Their other page is down.

I still have the free Nik plugins from google. Can I share them here, since the page is down?

gratis doesn’t mean free, so I’d be very surprised if you were allowed to do that

I think we’d rather that you don’t do that, please. We do not have license to redistribute that software.

The last gratis version seems to be still available on Softpedia.

(And I have just recieved the first excellent offer from DxO, 50 only "instead of 70 ".)

As of now these two links still can download the free version.

I recently (unfortunately) had to get my pc completely cleaned, so everything was recently re-downloaded…including the nik collection (for free) via file hippo (sp?) with no trouble , I’m happy to say
