New Digikam user. I’m trying to edit the EXIF data for an entire selection of files without going through them one by one. Is that possible?

It depends on what EXIF fields you are wanting to modify. It is quite easy to add tags, descriptions, GPS, author info etc. to multiple files in digikam.
If you need to shift date/time exiftool might be a better option
