I just noticed that my camera is inducing a red pixel at the same place in dark picture, I can’t see these red pixels in daytime pictures but with longer exposition, it’s there.
It can be repaired easily in GIMP but still.
Should I contact Canon about this or it’s overkill?
Here is one example, I thought I had a carbon star but no really, these are red pixels, it’s there in other pictures.
Hot pixels are relatively normal, turn on hot pixel filter in your editor and you should be fine
If you are stacking for astrophotography, be sure to apply a suitable number of dark frames to even out the disparities on the sensor.
@paperdigits Ok thanks for the info, I will check these filters out. Most likely, I’ll correct the red pixel in gimp.
@HIRAM Ok, I am not doing astrophotography except for these basic lowe power star shots with the camera mounted on my equatorial mount. For the moment only that. but OK, if I go ahead one day, I’ll remember about the dark frames.
Applying a dark frame to the long exposure shot is better than a hot pixel filter. cf. Dark-Frame - RawPedia
I shoot in Raw and process my images in darktable, which has a module specifically designed to fix hot pixels. I presume you are editing JPGs if you are using GIMP. An individual spot like shown here could be fixed with the healing tool in GIMP. Good luck. Also make sure long exposure noise reduction is turned on in the camera as it is designed to correct problems like this in the camera.
@terry, I think my camera doesn’t have the noise reduction option for long exposure. I never saw it. The AI tells me it don’t exist on the T7. However it’s possible that the option was available in older versions of the camera.
If I use the RAWs, my goal is to generate background images of my pictures to display on my computer, each RAW will be converted TIF or JPG down the line, Id’ remove the red pixel at this time. 
But it’s true that my last images, I used the JPGs in gimp instead. I don’t care all the time about RAWs

For my star pictures, I used ISO 800 but it’s inducing quite a bit of noise… I guess 1600 would induce way too much, my idea was to try ISO 400 with a longer exposure. + denoise in darktable.
Look in all the menu options I believe Arse Intelligence is wrong here and that you camera does offer long exposure and high ISO noise reduction. If I am wrong I am wrong, but most cameras offer it in the menu.
I can’t wait to arrive at home and to search the camera for that noise reduction option! I looked in the manual and there is a page on it but the central image was removed as if the manual was partially edited.
My hopes are pretty low because I already spent a good deal of time trying to figure out these config options. I read at some place that the EOS T7 has the Digic 4+ processor which could help reduce the noise with faster processing time and less exposition… <---- This was probably BS anyway Digic 4+
The camera in your screen shot, is not at all the same camera, mine has far less configs.
@Terry , yeah, i looked at the menus again, no signs of the noise reduction option on this camera
EOS Rebel T7 - Canadian model.
It’s there in the manual but nowhere to be found in the camera 
, is it possible that we need to press a sequence of buttons to make the option appear? (Nonsense like that is often possible these days)
And the front page of the manual, weird.
Did you try to go into the Custom Functions(C.Fn)? It is in the screen with the Firmware.
I think these noise reduction in the camera only work in jpg and not raw. Someone will correct me if I’m wrong.
You are right it’s there . Weird place to put that option… I never looked at the content of this menu, first time today.
I can’t wait to try that option on.
Long Exposure Noise Reduction works in raw and JPEG.
On every Canon EOS since D30.
High ISO noise reduction in camera may only be for JPEG.
