I am new to SIRIL and not very technical with Linux either. I use Linux mint 20.
When I try to convert AVI files to FITS or SER in the Conversion menu I get the error 'Error while opening film [filename], aborting. Conversion ended with error, 1/1 input files converted. FITS files work well. It used to work perfectly with the 0.9.12-2build3.
Can you help please?

Sure but there’s a special branch for the new conversion approach.
Worth testing it then.
And we would need full logs please.
As I said before I am no expert on Linux so was a bit of a struggle installing .7, so not confident to do that again 
But happy to help if someone can give me details on how to extract logs etc.
Don’t bother installing other versions for now. I’ll check soon and I’ll come back to you.
If you start siril from a terminal you might see error helpful messages though.
Hi, I confirm that film conversion is broken in 0.99.6.
I’ve fixed it in a development branch for the next release. You can either use version 0.9.12 until 0.99.8 is released, or update to a development version when this development branch is merged in the main branch, probably in a couple of days.
