Error during registration for mosaic

I have a sequence of two .fits files I want to make into a mosaic. Next I plate solve sequence, which is successful. However no green outline but WCS info can be displayed for both panels. When I try to register using Apply Existing Registration I get:
The reference image has a null matrix and was not previously aligned, choose another one, aborting.

Hello,

this has been fixed for next release. In the meantime, change the reference image to the second one (it does not matter anyway for a mosaic) and you should get the green frame again.

Cheers,

C.

Yes but the first image has no green frame, and after I try to register, frame #1 has an X across it and registration fails. Error in console:
Existing registration data is a set of null matrices, no transformation would be applied, aborting
Just to claify:
I am using two fits files, converted into a sequence, plate solved as a sequence. I believe the sequence file (lights_.seq) and the plate solve data are the only prerequisites for apply existing registration?

Indeed, that’s the bug. But have your tried opening the sequence inspector and selecting the second frame as the reference image? It worked as a temporary workaround for adrian who initially reported this (the bug does not materialize the same way depending on the OS). Once he had changed the reference to be the second, it would accept the Apply Registration step.

Not for astrometric registration because it has to recompute some framing info and the target ra/dec based on selected images. The seq file contains a keyword to indicate registration has to be done through astrometry.

If the workaround does not work for you, you can build from sources or download a built artifact from one of our pipelines… or wait for the next release…

Sequence Inspector = Frame List?
I opened the frame list and selected the other frame as the reference. A green outline appeared on that frame only. When I tried to register it failed. When I re-opened the frame list one frame still had a green outline and the other an “X” across the frame.

Ok, then what worked for adrian doesn’t work for you. I have no other solution for you than to build, pick an artifact or wait for the release…
