Eurasian coot with chick

I’ve been practicing with my new camera at a nearby pond, and this is one of my favorite shots. I’m curious how you guys will handle the noise and the color of the water

I wasn’t concerned by the noise, but since you mentioned that I put extra effort in to minimise noise.

dt tweaks - export with no tone mapper to exr format, spektrafilm-experimental using preset P800push2_EXTRAhalation (Portra 800 Push 2 on Supra Endura).

Lovely scene,

decided to zoom in a bit  beyond 400mm

Have lot’s of fun with your new cam and hopefully you’ll share a play_raw from time tot time.

My take

I applied a little more work, a bit of Tone Equalizer for the mother’s face, then the Neural Restore noise reduction. The xmp is for prior to Neural restore.

PS - darktable is awesome.

Thank you everyone! I need some time to have a detailed look into the edits, but I do really like the brighter versions with wider crops (but the tighter crop also looks great, mhm …)
