evaluating image at lower than 1:1 for sharpening

i understand that certain tools have to be used at 100% view. but its very difficult to evaluate the impact at more normal viewing levels.
so what do you do, save a “trial” tiff or jpeg, evaluate, go back to the raw and further fine tune at 100%?

I set Geeqie as my external editor so that Ctrl+e renders the image and opens it up in Geeqie:

i just set it up to open ps7.
works great. even first converts to tiff. ( ps7 cant handle raw)
not a perfect solution but not bad. thanks

if i preopen ps it takes about 1 second. literally
