Export information about images groups in DT

I have a quick question regarding the group functionality in darktable: I am using DT at different places (work, home) and on different computers. Yesterday I started culling images from a recent trip, where I took several series for HDR panos. On my laptop I grouped those images. Today I wanted to continue on another computer. So I imported the raw files and xmp’s from an external SSD. Labels etc. are preserved, but not the group information. Is there a way to exchange that information without sharing the database itself? If not, I will try using tags/color labels or whatever instead…

I highly suspect that info is in your database and not something coming across with xmp files but I am by no means the person to give a definitive answer 100%…

Such a design makes of course sense, because it is not an image property as such. I was just wondering if I have overseen something. But there are of course some workarounds like using a “pano” tag. Or taking the risk of sharing the database.
