I just want the ability to color code my modules so I’m able to differentiate what my workflow should be. Not looking for any workarounds or suggestions.
Thanks

This might be possible with some judicious CSS juggling.
What a pity that you are not interested in
any suggestions…
Then open an issue in the bug tracker. This is a place for discussion and helping each other.
Stupid question but you do know that the modules are applied in a fixed sequence no matter what your workflow and you could easily group them to your liking…nevertheless there is a formal request form… it’s not here… you need to head over to the DT GitHub site…also a slightly better explanation will get you better feedback and assist with any provided changes. eg how you intend to use the different colors
I would be interested in knowing how this is done and thoughts on doing so, if any.
It’s in the manual: darktable 4.4 user manual - manage module layouts
The order can be changed by dragging them; only the history order is irrelevant. If one does not realise this, and changes the order when grouping them, thinking it’s just for convenience, bad things can result.
I was thinking more of custom groups say from left to right with each group having a role in the workflow process… DT has its default groupings but you could do a total custom job … so you can still mess it up but it should not be an issue if you are careful… I suppose people could also have module order presets . Some have also proposed applying a set of modules that is their normal workflow with their own defaults but applied as inactive where they are optional or not to be used on every image… its nice to have all that flexibility…
Yep, I know, and you know, and I know that you know, and you know that I know. ![]()
I just wanted to avoid potentially misleading less experienced users.
@rastreetcanvas It may be a faux pas to start with a closed-ended feature request, but I welcome you to the forum. Please share more of your use case in this thread (preferably with pretty pictures) or open an issue in the bug tracker as @paperdigits suggested: Issues · darktable-org/darktable · GitHub.
You just prompted me to try and be more clear… or moderately so😜
quite unlikely. The grey/dark grey monochrome gui is intended to not distract the perception of colors in the image.
