I would like the sequence/session numbers to reset to 1 for each new date.
I use image date YYYYMMDDSSSS from the camera
So for each new image (from the camera, nikon) for each date the sequence should restart. Since I travel and don’t download from the camera each day I can’t use the session number. Often I download a weeks worth or more at onetime. Nikon Transfer had this as one of its renamingrules and It was very useful.
There are many features I personally would like to add to the program. I almost always prioritise feature requests from those who contribute to the program through code or donations. Donations make a big difference.

A simple fix would be a button on the renaming options panel to reset the session number. I will take a look at codinf it.
A solution that works for the long-term is infinitely superior. The solution must stand the test of time, because it will potentially be around for decades. Development on the program started in 2007, and the first release was in 2009. Configuration choices made then are now still with us today.
