It seems that clouds are a must nowadays.

A quick edit. I have a preset in the new color equalizer module that I use to increase blue saturation and darken the blues. I use it as my Pseudo-polarizing filter for skies in some landscapes. I used it here to bring out the clouds.

I think the challenge with a shot like this is to give the clouds “character” but not bake them. I would love to see peoples idea of “realistic” cloud editing…it might even not be the end result of your edit but maybe people can share their thoughts and tips for editing clouds… I feel like even the clouds that I see in real life with detail that even on the best day are litterally like teased out cotton balls, quite distinct and with some texture and some depth are still at the same time diffuse as well. With the tools in digital editing I find that clouds to me often look too crunch and over contrasted so that we head towards that HDR look that many often define as having gone too far… In any case I think this is an excellent example and it would be interesting to see how people share their thoughts on these clouds and the sky and what editing choices they have decided to apply…

Thank you!

Good idea - you should create a new topic for it.

The colors and clarity are excellent, but what did you do to the perspective? It looks like a close-up shot made with a wide-angle lens.

I used my “immerdrauf”* RF20-240 at 24mm. This lens is surely qualitatively below specialized lenses, but not so bad as some experts say.
For development I use the neutral profile from Adobe (thanks to Andy Astbury for that tip). The important rest is done with tone equalizer (I love that tool!) and sharpening. And some default values for denoise, white balance and defringe.

I’ve been there in the right moment at the right place.

** immer drauf means always mounted; used for a lens that you use when you want to use only one lens. Don’t know if there’s an analogue expression in english.

I fear you meant me and I fear you are right. I’m not used to such extreme distortions, and I corrected the distortion badly. So I changed my edit perspective wise. I hope it’s better now.

@popanz Yes, I meant your prior edit, which I thought I was replying to directly, but that became unclear. @Kurt, I think your original is fine.

Sorry for the confusion.
