RAW files opened in Darktable (5.4.1) via GIMP (3.2) can be processed, but when sent back to GIMP an error message results. The message says: “Opening (file name) failed: (NULL) plug-in could not open image.” Using OS: Windows 11.
Any suggestions what can be done to fix this? Thank you.
It was a bug that’s now fixed in master. You could try a nightly build or use the weekly build that I add in darktable windows insider program. It’s building now so give me a little bit.
I have this same problem with GIMP 3.2.2. I tried .DNG, and .NEF files. I even tried shortening the filename thinking perhaps it was a length/character issue, but it doesn’t help. I just downloaded and installed the current version. Any help here. I’m on deadline and could use a quick response.
Thanks in advance for your help.
I’m pretty sure the file was created by darktable; gimp seems to not know where it is. You can load the DT file in gimp by navigating to the ~/AppData/Local/Temp directory (folder) and CD into the most recent directory. There you should find image.exr, which was made by DT and which gimp will open.
