Filmstrip Frustration (mild)

This is a minor frustration, but when I’m

  1. Inside Darkroom
  2. Film strip in View
  3. Filtered to show rated images (1 star)
  4. Miscellaneous Settings > autoscroll image to centre of filmstrip [on]
  5. Edit an image, keeping the mouse active (not overing over thumbnail)
  6. On Keyboard: Change the image Rating to ‘Reject’

Behaviour result
The Image disappears from the filmstrip (filtered out)

Problem:
When I hit the spacebar or right arrow to advance to the next image, DT bounces back to the first image on the thumbnail listing, rather than choosing the next image (the one next in line from the the previous edit.

this does sound like a quibble. But many of us do a bit of culling and rating as we edit (looking at you!), and it really slows down the process if you have to refocus the thumbnail with a mouse click.

Ideal Beahviour
When the currently selected Image on the timeline is filtered out, the selection automatically switches to its neighbour on the active thumbnail list.

Make sense?

If anyone has a solution to this, please shout, before I waste anyone’s time posting to the devs!

cheers

The option you are referring to is not yet in stable but from the nightlies, right? I can reproduce the issue; this is probably not intended behaviour, I opened an issue on github. Pinging @Masterpiga .

Thanks, @mino. This was already reported on github and has been fixed in master:

Oh sorry, didnt search thoroughly enough - the issue does persist with the currently available nightly though.

In another thread it’s been reported that there have not been new nightly builds since the first of May, maybe due to some CI breakage.

Thanks you so much, peeps, for your quick response.
Sometimes the little things have a big impact.

Appreciated! Darktable is such an awesome tool.
