Find original images on harddrive

Hi There,

I have an image in Darktable Filmrole and like to find/go to the actual images on the harddrive.
In other programs you can do option click and a context menu open - not so with Darktable.
How to do?

Thanks…

When you are in lighttable view and click on an image it will show information about it in the image information module, the full path included:

Not sure if this specific entry is on by default, if it isn’t you need to click on the hamburger, select preferences and (un)tick those that are(n’t) of interest to you:

The Lua Script OpenInExplorer does exactly what you want.

You need to activate it in the scripts manager (bottom left corner in the lighttable).
Maybe you need to install the scripts first if you haven’t done so already.

With that script active you get a new button “show in file explorer” in the “selected images” module.

Hi There,

I am lost to be honest.
I have Lua Script installer, if I click the arrow, there is nothing there. I can opt for Install scripts, it says scripts installed, Lua Script installer is still empty, and no option in the selected images module to show in file explorer.
Do I have to download something?

Thanks for your feedback.

have a look in selected images[s]

Silly thought: have you started the script?

Hi There,

Yes, I had installed the script, at least I get the message its installed, but there it ends.
Please see attached images.
The same happens on a MacBook Pro with High Sierra10.13.6 and Darktable 3.8.0

Script intalled

just installing scripts doesn’t help - you need to start them also …
so switch “select action” in the lua script installer section to “start/stop scripts” and enable that script as shown by claes

Hi There,

my version of Darktable doesnt show that option.
Please see attached.

Lua

I would also like the ability to find the images in Explorer, and I located the “lua scrips installer” panel. However, when I click “execute”, only a black window appears for a split second and then nothing happens. Same thing with repeated clicks. I’m on Windows 10 using Darktable 4.2.1.

The Lua scripts installer needs git command line tools, do you have them installed for your OS?

Ah, probably not then? FOSS UX strikes again (and this time, I did check that there wasn’t any tool tip which told me this information that I missed).

Its all documented darktable lua documentation - installation
