The feature that I am missing mostly is the “Frames and borders” tool under “Transfor”. Are there any ongoing plans for creating such a feature? What I mean i a framing tool for putting some fancy borders around the pic before export to jpg. Frames and borders could be based for example on exportable profiles.

Send your file to the GIMP, then start G’MIC (install gimp-gmic for that), choose in section Decorations (or something like that) the borders you want. In other words, what you are asking for does already exist.
Thanks… I need to try that. What I would like to do is to put the framing action in my favorite profile and copy-paste it to a bunch of pics at a time without the extra manual steps. I have done that on PS until now after first exporting PNG (lossless), which is awful and time consuming manual task when repeated often. I think the feature would suite perfectly next to the “post resize sharpening”
