Free & Open Source Client Galleries and Contracts for Photographers — Picstome.com

Hello!

I’m Chema Photo — a photographer and developer from Barcelona — and together with my colleague Oliver, we’ve just launched Picstome, a free and open source web app made just for photographers like us.

We built Picstome because we got tired of expensive, bloated gallery services, tricky contract workflows, and worrying about privacy with hosted platforms. So we created a simple self-hosted web app that puts you in full control.

Here’s the cool stuff about Picstome:

  • It’s 100% free and open source — and will always stay that way.
  • Easy to install with just two steps, and runs great on small setups.
  • Manage galleries with watermarks and password protection.
  • Create and track contracts with digital signatures.
  • Share photos with clients hassle-free and do client photo proofing.

We’re really eager to hear what photographers think — try it out, break it, and let us know what would make your workflow better!

You can find all the info and installation guide at https://picstome.com.

Means so much to us for this free project to work, and looking forward to your feedback! THANKS!

Have you looked into getting some simple one click hosting like pika pods or similar? Or are you going to start offering a hosted version?

Hello! I did not know Pika Pods, we will take a look!. we are still checking what we are going to do, many photographers are going to ask for a SaaS version, currently we are not there, and if we do, we want to offer the option to use your storage (your own s3 or drive or dropbox or similar) and a really easy to export solution, I have run other successful FOSS and we offered SaaS using the same principles. Super important to us. Freedom of choice. Any suggestions or ideas? are welcome. thanks!

As someone who is just starting to look at website/gallery options, its really nice to see FOSS entries! I think you are right that a lot of people would find a SaaS solution really useful, but happy to see self-host is an option!
