Free to watch video tutorials?

Does anyone know of anywhere online to watch up-to-date tutorials for Raw Therapee (dev), Gimp 2.9 and Photoflow?

Youtube seems to have a lot on offer but most are either old, or aren’t in English.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Not sure, actually. I have one or two - but they’re usually targeted to doing a single task in some fashion. Come to think of it, I haven’t seen many RT specific videos overall, which is a shame and something that should probably be rectified at some point…

Video production is labor intensive; not sure there will tutorials on the dev versions of these software.

I’ve started collecting videos though, so hopefully we will have a page soon.

If you promise not to laugh, you can watch my attempt at a RT tutorial. It’s the first “major” video tutorial that I’ve ever made.

It was made for beginners at raw development period, not just RAWTherapee, so it’s pretty long and somewhat basic.

That’s really good!

Lots of stuff that I didn’t know about RT, which definitely helps.

Thanks!

This makes life so much easier for someone who learns by seeing rather than reading. For me, the most useful written tutorials are the ones condensed to a single paragraph, with just bullet points pretty much. More than that, and my concentration levels fade quickly. But then, to have someone stand over my shoulder showing me what to do makes learning much easier, and in the absence of a physical person, a video is a pretty close second.

Thanks again for putting that together @RT-Noob

You’re welcome! I’m glad you found it helpful.

I know when I was first learning RAW development in Adobe Lightroom, one of the best things I did was watch a couple of video tutorials. They weren’t anything special, just some guy editing a couple of his photos, but it cleared up a whole lot of mysteries for me.

When I wanted to learn RAWTherapee though, I couldn’t find any video tutorials! You’re right, there’s really nothing there that is up to date and actually helpful. So I’ve learned “here a little and there a little”, from RawPedia, and from this forum. Part of the problem is that RT evolves so fast! A tutorial that was made 2 years ago, (or even less) can show totally different tools/methods for doing stuff that don’t even exist in the current version of RT.

I know of a couple of beginning photographers who can’t really afford to buy/subscribe to Lightroom, so I recommended RT to them. Unfortunately, I couldn’t point them to any good basic tutorial for how to use it, so I decided to make my own! Like I said, it’s the first video tutorial I’ve made that was really “major”, so there are things that I would try to improve if I ever make another one.
